Hello.
No foundation, Milobina, and Manager Nonko are always welcome.
This time, as with last time, I'll introduce another amazing herb I encountered.
I wanted to share even more surprises about "Gettou" (ginger lily), so I'm presenting the fourth installment out of 12.
So, please stay with us until the end this time as well.
"Japanese people have beautiful skin!" is what I've heard overseas.
Whenever I go to my partner's hometown in Australia, I always go to a foot massage parlor.
Many of these massage parlors are run by people of Asian descent, such as those from Thailand or China, and one of the massage parlors I frequent is run by Chinese owners.
The female masseuse at that shop,Whenever she finds out I'm Japanese, she says, "I'm so happy to be able to speak Japanese after so long!" and she always takes care of me, and we end up talking in Japanese the whole time.
Upon inquiry, I learned that he had lived in Japan for a long time.
Then, one day, she said, "I guess Japanese people have really beautiful skin because they take baths."
That's what they say.
I was surprised to hear that,
"Huh? It was really dry and I was worried about it."
That's what I answered, but they insisted that there's a huge difference in skin smoothness between people who take baths regularly and those who don't.
In his hometown of Perth, Australia, water is a precious commodity, and he rarely takes a bath during his stay.
Even though I love taking baths, I now take a refreshing shower every day.
As a result, day by day, the skin on my shins became rough and the heels became chapped.
Despite that, she said, "Your skin is overwhelmingly smoother and cleaner than other people's," and further emphasized the wonderfulness of my bathing habits, which honestly made me feel a little proud as a Japanese person!
This is what happens if you don't take a bath in the summer.
Like my mother, I love taking baths, but living in the scorching heat of Kawagoe, taking a bath in the summer requires a bit of courage.
Our bathroom is on the second floor, so it gets especially hot in the summer...Therefore, I tend to just take a shower instead.
As a result, old dead skin cells tend to remain more easily than when soaking in hot water, leading to increased dryness and a decrease in skin clarity.
Also, even though I keep the air conditioning on full blast, I like to go barefoot, so I don't wear socks. This causes my hands and feet to get cold, impairing circulation, and preventing enough blood containing nutrients that keep them moisturized from reaching them, creating a vicious cycle that makes them even more prone to dryness.
If you look closely, even my toes look a bit wrinkled (tears).
A bath with ginger lily is perfect for staying energized in the summer!
For a summer bath, my top recommendation is mint!
Mint soaps and body sprays can refresh your mind and bring you back to your senses when the heat makes you feel sluggish!
The reason mint is good is that its unique, cool scent comes from a compound called "menthol," which actually has the effect of lowering skin temperature.
It wasn't just a simple feeling of coolness, was it?
Too much menthol can actually make you feel colder, so I wouldn't recommend using bath products with a lot of menthol in winter. However, using it in moderation in a summer bath can enhance comfort.
And this menthol is also found in ginger lily.
I absolutely can't do without ginger lily in my summer morning and evening skincare routine because it has a refreshing, cooling sensation. Just adding 1-2 tablespoons makes summer baths feel wonderfully clean and invigorating.
It doesn't have the stimulating effect of mint, and the cooling sensation is just right, leaving you feeling incredibly refreshed and invigorated after your bath. Mirobina staff member Satsuki loves this bath so much that she recommends it to everyone.
Additionally, other components found in Alpinia zerumbet, such as camphor and limonene, improve blood flow and help eliminate waste products. When I put it in the bath, I feel refreshed and like my fatigue is gone.
One of the important roles of taking a bath is that the buoyancy reduces the pressure on the entire body, improving blood circulation, relaxing muscles, and making it easier for fatigue-causing substances to be flushed out.
The components found in ginger lily support that function.
By the way, if you sprinkle some ginger lily water on your feet before massaging, you'll feel a noticeable difference in refreshment compared to when you don't use anything. The area where you apply it will feel pleasantly warm, so it's also great for refreshing your feet when they get cold from air conditioning in the summer.
In the summer, excessive sweating disrupts the body's mineral balance, causing it to retain water. This can lead to swelling and tired legs, even when you're sweating a lot.
A ginger lily bath can also be helpful for heat rash and minor skin irritations.
Baths are often something we avoid in the summer, but being enveloped in the subtle scent of ginger lily transforms it into a blissful summer bath time that helps us regain our energy for tomorrow. I'm truly amazed by ginger lily.
As I was writing this, I found myself liking ginger lilies even more! (lol)
