This time, as with last time, I'll introduce another amazing herb I encountered.
I wanted to share even more surprises about "Gettou" (ginger lily), so I'm presenting the seventh episode out of a total of 12.

I learned about Okinawa ginger lily in the past.
The shop, which started with just one bar of soap, has since received numerous orders every day, thanks to the overwhelming response from customers who say that the soap has made their skin beautiful.
Eventually, some of our customers who had become fans asked, "Do you have anything to use after soap?" and that's how we started selling organic rose water from Sanoflore, a French company.
This was so good that it became a popular product, and an indispensable item not only for our customers but also for myself.
However···
Sanoflor was acquired by Revlon, and it was decided that preservatives would be added to the product.
We have reluctantly decided to discontinue handling this product.
As a side note, we also carried neroli water back then, which had a lovely scent and excellent skin-beautifying effects.
So, we have to find a replacement!
So, a counselor I met while attending aromatherapy school, who also practices astrology, advised me that there's something called "getto" (ginger lily) from Okinawa that might be good for me. I immediately felt inspired and flew to Okinawa by myself!
Things I learned from people who love ginger lily
The people of Okinawa are all incredibly kind and friendly.
It was my first solo business trip, and I was a little anxious, but the taxi driver, the shop staff, and the ginger lily manufacturer were all very kind.
Everyone I met was kind and friendly, and I was able to continue my trip so smoothly that it didn't feel like I was in a new place at all.
The trip was going smoothly, but since I had absolutely no knowledge of ginger lily, as I visited many manufacturers in the area, I naturally learned about the effects and uses of ginger lily by listening to their passionate stories about the ginger lily they cultivate and distill with pride.
As I've written before, the ginger lily plant has truly amazing properties and functions, and during my travels, I became a huge fan of ginger lily, deciding that I absolutely had to work with ginger lily water!
Among all of its uses, what surprised me the most was its effect on insects.
Used in supermarkets! Cockroach repellent?
Some people say they use ginger lily water for skin irritations, insect bites, minor scrapes, and cuts.
The manufacturer also spoke with great confidence, saying that the product has amazing whitening effects and can also promote collagen production.
Amidst all of this, when I visited a manufacturer run by a husband and wife, I learned the following:
"Getto water is used in supermarkets and factories, you know."
If you sprinkle it in the paths cockroaches take, they'll stay away.
Huh, what?
I had already heard so much about the effects and benefits on the skin that it filled my head,
So you use it not just for beauty and hygiene care, but also in your daily life?!
"That's right! That's why the supermarket there no longer has cockroaches, and they're really happy about it."
I really couldn't believe it...
When I got married, I was living in an old company-owned apartment complex run by my ex-husband's company, and the apartment on the floor below me was what you would call a hoarder's house.
An incredible number of cockroaches are getting into my house every day.
During my pregnancy, I had the terrifying experience of having multiple insects touch my feet on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Oh, if only I had known back then!
Before getting pregnant, I worked as a beauty consultant at a department store.
I get home around 8 pm, turn on the lights, and open the windows because it's hot.
Then...
On the balcony, I heard a loud rustling sound as black things scurried down to the floor below.
It's a huge rush!
Oh, if only I had encountered Getto water back then...!
The first time we handled the Getto water, it was incredibly popular and used by many people, but unfortunately the company went out of business.
When I visited Okinawa for the second time in search of more ginger lily water, I met a manufacturer who told me that ginger lily is very effective against mites and introduced me to a mite repellent product made with ginger lily.
They said that leaving it out would drive the mites away and keep them away.
I was incredibly surprised by its effects, but at the time, I was only thinking about skincare, so I didn't even consider carrying it.
Now that I'm writing this, I just remembered, maybe I should try stocking that product?
It's amazing to think that filling a room with the scent of ginger lily can be used to combat dust mites lurking in tatami mats and carpets, and to repel insects like mosquitoes!
I was told that it's popular with locals and also with people who have atopic dermatitis or dust mite allergies.
