I already have squalene. The story of how that product saved my son's laughter②

Hello. I am Sumiko, a staff member in charge of the design of the beautiful natural Milobina.

Last time, with the title ``Easy and effective - the story of how that product saved my son's laughter ①,'' I talked about a cream called ``Mommy's Love.''2I wrote about how my second son's painful lips were quickly healed.

This time, I would like to investigate and summarize what was so good about Mommy's Love. First, review the product information of Mummy's Love on their website.

●"Aroma ointment" that gently cares for delicate skin

●The key point is vegetable squalane...contains plenty of very high-grade olive squalane.

●All ingredients are jojoba oil, beeswax, vegetable squalane, tea tree essential oil, lavender angustifolia (true lavender), natural vitamins.E

It seems that it is.

aroma ointment

I've been talking about cream, cream, but to be exact, Mommy's Love is not a cream, but an "ointment." (If it is wrapped in large pieces, it is sometimes described as a cream, and conversely, cream-like products are sometimes called ointments.)

What is the difference between cream and ointment? In fact, I only recently learned that they are different in the first place. This happened after I wrote my last blog, so it's a very hot topic.

``The lavender cream I made in an ``aroma course'' I previously attended had a scent that only lasted about six months (but Mummy's Love...7Year too! )” When I mentioned this to the president, he said,

"What did you make? Cream? Ointment?"

When asked? ? ? . I learned the difference between cream and ointment.

Ointment is a sticky oil-based application. Solid (semi-solid). Translucent and yellowish (some are white and translucent)

Cream is an emulsified mixture of oil and fat. soft. White and opaque.

Come to think of it, what we casually call "cream" is...2There's a pattern. Of course, there are differences not only in appearance but also in their functional characteristics. Ointments tend to be avoided because they are sticky. In addition, creams penetrate faster because they are emulsified.

But the good thing about ointment is that it doesn't hurt! The ointment is non-irritating, so it can be used on all skin conditions without causing irritation to worsened eczema or wounds. Can be used anywhere! On the other hand, creams tend to cause irritation and can be painful when applied to wounds. That was one of the reasons why it didn't hurt when I used it on my daughter's chapped cheeks.

vegetable squalane

The key ingredient in Mummy Slab is vegetable squalane.

Squalane is by Hisako Manda.CMIt is also famous for its squalane oil. I even tried it when I was younger. From what I learned from that experience, I thought it was oil that can be extracted from sharks.

No, I'm not mistaken, but apparently it can also be obtained from plants. And, although it's a little confusing, what you can harvest is not "squalane" but "squalene."

Squalene has a very unstable chemical structure and is easily oxidized when exposed to air. Apparently, it is not suitable as a raw material for cosmetics. Therefore, squalane is stabilized by ``hydrogenation.'' (Hydrogenation, as the name suggests, is the process of adding and bonding hydrogen atoms to a certain substance)

In other words, squalene is the source of squalane.Squalene can also be obtained from sources other than sharks.

・Squalene obtained from deep sea shark liver oil

・Vegetable squalene obtained from olive fruit oil and rice bran oil

・Sugar squalene obtained from sugarcane sugar solution

・There is also synthetic squalene, which is synthesized from ipsolene.

Surprisingly, squalene is also found in human sebum.10It is said that it contains around %!If the ingredients are naturally present in the skin, you can imagine how well they blend into the skin and how safe they are. It's not a foreign substance to your skin!

As I said earlier, squalene is easily oxidized, so hydrogen is added to make it squalane.

In the case of squalene in human skin, it mixes with moisture such as sweat and turns into squalane, which forms a film on the surface of the skin to protect it from losing too much moisture. It's called "natural cream". However, the peak secretion of this natural cream is20~30Generations. After that, it gradually decreases... So unless you compensate from the outside in some way, you'll end up going downhill after the corner... scary scary.

Then squalene was discovered1906Year. The discoverer is said to be Japanese. Dr. Mitsumaru Tsujimoto, a Japanese oleagologist, discovered squalene in the liver oil of deep-sea sharks for the first time in the world. Wow.

It was originally possessed by humans and was discovered by the Japanese. Now that you have a strong affinity for squalane, the next thing you should be curious about is its effects and characteristics.

Highly permeable to the skin!

It is also included in human sebum, so it is highly compatible and has high permeability. Moreover, since the particles are extremely fine, they can penetrate deep into the stratum corneum. By incorporating squalane, other active ingredients also have the effect of making it easier to penetrate the skin.

Highly emollient!

It forms a thin film on the surface of your skin, preventing excess water from escaping and keeping your skin soft.

Feels smooth

Because it spreads well and is smooth, it is sometimes added to creams to improve their texture.

Not easily oxidized

Because the molecular structure is stabilized by hydrogenation, it is extremely resistant to oxidation and deterioration.

Regarding my son's mouth incident, even though it was released for so long, it was okay!(However, when I checked the product information on the site, I noticed that "After opening,6Please use it within a month”...! This time, it was safe for 7 years, but please be careful when using it on people with sensitive skin or babies.)

Safety and security

Its safety has been confirmed through various test data. It is said to be a highly safe ingredient as it is non-toxic and has almost no reports of irritation or allergies. Even in a patch test for people with dermatitis, no irritation was observed. That's why even my daughter's painful cheeks and my son's unsmiling lips didn't hurt!

In addition to cosmetics, it is so compatible with the human body that it is used in pharmaceutical ointments and as a lubricant for artificial hearts!

Of all the effects of squalane, these are the ones that convinced me.

Even when I looked at various sites, it was described in multiple places, and the mechanism was easy to understand. Actually, it seems that there are many other effects of squalane, but the basis and reason are not clear, or only one site claims it and other sites do not. I avoided it for the time being. There is also the issue of time and number of characters to research.

But perhaps, even if the theory is not clear, it is correct as wisdom from many years! There are cases where this is the case, and there is also a problem with my understanding, so I would like to introduce it just in case.

good for acne

A thin film is applied to the surface, but it penetrates into the stratum corneum over time, so it does not trap acne bacteria. (Acne bacteria hates air, so confining them creates a favorable environment for acne bacteria, allowing them to multiply.)

Keep turnover normal

It has the function of supplying oxygen to cells, making it easier for oxygen to be distributed throughout the body. As a result, metabolism increases and turnover is promoted.

Prevention of pigmentation

Has antibacterial and bactericidal properties

Highly hydrophilic

It is said that it is highly hydrophilic (the property of easily miscible with water), so it blends into the skin easily without an emulsifier, but I was not sure about it because some people said it had zero hydrophilic properties. If it is true that it is highly hydrophilic, this characteristic could also cover the weakness that I wrote about ointment at the beginning, that ointments have lower penetration power than emulsified creams.

I hope that I will have the opportunity to look into the parts that I didn't understand very well someday. In addition, there are other questions such as purity, the difference between animal and vegetable products, and which is safer? I wasn't able to fully research things that seemed to be important, such as...

So, I have written about squalane, but at the end I would like to touch on its emollient effect. In ② above, I wrote that squalane has a high emollient effect. Many people may know about its emollient effect, but I decided to look into it.

[Emollient effect]A physiological function of the skin that prevents water evaporation from the skin, retains moisture, and makes the skin supple.

[Emollients]Something that has an emollient effect on the skin. The most ideal emollient for the skin is sebum itself.

In other words…

The ideal emollient for your skin is sebum itself.

Squalane is contained in sebum.

Vegetable squalane is an ingredient with the same structure.

Isn't that close to the ideal? ?

That was the moment I felt like we were connected.

The story suddenly changes, but when I was a student, my hobby was walking! There was a time when I said that. One of the joys of walking is when the mental maps of one place and another suddenly become connected.Does this road lead here? Or was this place behind there? And.

This time, I was doing a lot of research, and I was able to experience that kind of fun in many places.

On the other hand, there are some things that I can't come to a conclusion about even after researching, and the more I research them, the deeper the mystery becomes."Oil" is so broad that it becomes difficult to understand. I would like to find out more about "oil" soon.

It's been a long time, but it's still here... I couldn't find any ingredients other than squalane in Mommy's Love.I don't know when I'll be able to write again, so I only have one more thing left! This is a story I learned from my president.

One of the ingredients in Mummy's Love is beeswax, which is said to have a high fragrance-preserving effect.that's why7Even though I opened the bottle a year ago, Mommy's Love still has a tea tree scent.

Yes, I understand.

Even though it's this long, if you're willing to read to the end, thank you very much.
