The Story of Graduating from Being a Cosmetics Gypsy | Episode 2: Former Cosmetics Gypsy

This is a series of posts I wrote in my email newsletter back in my mid-30s, titled "My Story of Graduating from Being a Cosmetics Gypsy," which I'm now republishing for my official blog.

What were the motivations behind the creation of Mirobina, and why did they end up with skincare products made from natural ingredients?

We will leave behind written materials to convey the background information that cannot be fully expressed on the product page alone.

All 15 episodes are being released sequentially.

Former cosmetics gypsy

To our regular subscribers,
For first-timers,

Hello.
This is Nonko, the shop manager of Aromatic Life Magic Soap (*^_^*)

I wonder why I'm running this shop.
I recently attended a Rakuten training course that involved staying overnight to delve into these kinds of topics, and I discovered something unexpected!

This is the meaning behind doing this job (^^)/

One is my experience as a cosmetics nomad.

And another thing is that I had a severe case of atopic dermatitis after giving birth.

Those two things seem to have been the main triggers.

Going back in time to my vibrant twenties, when I was a naive college student.
I've had acne since middle school and it's always bothered me, but I remember always going to the local cosmetics store, carefully reading the descriptions, and desperately trying to choose and use products that seemed like they would clear up my acne.

Because it will give you beautiful skin.

Then a turning point came for me!

"Hey, you originally have beautiful skin, but you're worried about acne, right?"
"Come over here for a moment."

I still remember it.

I was approached by a beautiful woman at the cosmetics counter in the Keio Department Store in Shinjuku.

"If you use this skincare routine, your skin will return to its naturally beautiful state, since you already have good skin to begin with."

That's what I was taught.

At that time, I felt like I was on cloud nine...! Ah, I was so young back then (^^;)

In the end, I bought a whole set of things and went home.
I was really excited about it! (^^)/

"Now I can become beautiful (T_T)"

Having just gotten a boyfriend, I wanted to become more beautiful, so I diligently followed the advice I received, and my skin became noticeably clearer...

But, as expected, it didn't work out (T_T)

I've entered a full-fledged cosmetics-hopping phase.

Hmm, my acne is still increasing as usual.

"Okay, then, use this pack too. It's good for acne."
That older sister, who always teaches me with such kindness and dedication, is so kind to me, even though I'm trying my best.

And with hope in my heart, I diligently continue taking care of myself.

But it's a scarecrow!!

My skin didn't improve at all, and that's when my journey as a cosmetics gypsy began.
The path to skin damage has begun.

Looking back now, I think that during that period, I devoured magazines, listened to a lot of information from beauty consultants, and while I thought it was knowledge, I actually developed a lot of preconceived notions.

After many twists and turns, I've come to understand the power of nature, and these misconceptions have disappeared. I hope that I can help those who are walking the same path and struggling to overcome their misconceptions, and help them achieve truly beautiful skin.

Next time, we'll be talking about "I want to be beautiful!"
I'd like to tell you a little more about how I ended up getting a job at a cosmetics company because of that feeling...(^^)/
