Hello.
No foundation, Milobina, and Manager Nonko are always welcome.
This time, I'd like to talk about "no foundation and anti-aging care," something I've been reflecting on since someone recently complimented my skin.
This is episode 3.
Please watch until the very end this time as well.
I was able to achieve beautiful skin because I stopped doing "a certain thing".
I'm now 57 years old, and I've noticed that my skin seems to be aging much faster now that I'm over 50.
But, as I wrote in my previous blog post, I still occasionally receive compliments on my skin.
Because of my job, I do take care of my skin, but I was honestly pleasantly surprised when a childhood friend I hadn't seen in a long time asked me, "Are you getting cosmetic procedures done?"
But hearing those words, I felt that my previous commitment to 100% natural skincare had been the right thing to do,
I realized that giving up a certain thing was a significant factor, so I decided to write about that this time.
Going without foundation makes me waver
As those of you who have read this far will probably already understand, yes, that is...
I stopped wearing foundation.
It was my personal choice, and by stopping using foundation and going foundation-free, it became more difficult to apply point makeup.
When I look in the mirror next to someone whose skin is perfectly smoothed with foundation,
I often find myself thinking, "Oh..."
The mirrors in stores, especially when you're shopping for clothes, can be a bit cruel (lol).
But when I get back home and look at my skin in natural light, it looks pretty good and even.
Even though I might appear confident and say, "I don't wear foundation!", the truth is, I still waver sometimes.
My skin changed after I stopped wearing foundation.
The reason I stopped wearing foundation was because the president of a skincare company, whom I respected at the time, recommended it to me.
This story takes place before I started my current job, back when I was a full-time housewife raising children.
She was particularly hostile towards surfactants, and spoke in detail about the harmful effects of chemical ingredients, especially the burden that foundation puts on the skin.
However, as a result of continuing to treat my acne, which started in middle school, my pores became enlarged, and the blackheads on my nose became so bad that I was teased and called a "strawberry."
My complexion was dull, my skin was always rough, and my entire face was constantly itchy.
I hated my skin so much that I tried every skincare product imaginable, and eventually I even became a beauty consultant.
She was someone who couldn't imagine not wearing foundation; she considered it absolutely essential for protecting her skin, and she never skipped it, even on her days off. She wore foundation diligently 365 days a year.
And that involves using both liquid and powder.
So, when I quit my job as a beauty consultant, and then stopped wearing foundation for a while...
The acne and breakouts that had plagued me for so many years finally cleared up.
A series of small stimuli
Looking back, one reason my skin felt itchy when I was using foundation was that I was reapplying the chemical-laden foundation several times a day,
My skin is rather sensitive, so the chemical irritants in the foundation didn't suit me. As a result, my skin was exposed to the harsh chemicals, its barrier function weakened, and it became irritated.
Being a conscientious person, I always used a cleanser that removed makeup thoroughly. But cleansers are actually full of synthetic surfactants that are even more irritating to the skin than foundation.
I can confidently say that if I hadn't stopped using foundation and continued using it along with my cleanser, I wouldn't have the beautiful skin I have today.
When the skin is stimulated, it becomes inflamed. When inflammation occurs, the skin works hard to soothe the inflammation.
During the day, your skin is usually damaged by minor irritations, and it repairs itself overnight, returning to normal by morning. That's why you don't notice it—that small amounts of damage are accumulating every day.
Skin aging progresses as metabolism slows down, making it difficult for old skin to regenerate.
If daytime damage is minimal, your skin can focus all its energy on creating new cells and regenerating while you sleep.
However, if your skin is inflamed from foundation or cleansing products, energy will be used to repair that inflammation, and it won't be able to fully dedicate its energy to skin regeneration.
Today's title might sound a little exaggerated, but it reflects my own feelings.
