First time using CBD (cannabidiol): 5 questions you want to know

Hello. This is Naoko Miyazaki from Milobina.

CBD (cannabidiol) has the effect of alleviating problems such as appetite, sleep, fatigue, stiff shoulders, and regulating the body. It has been attracting attention mainly from health-conscious people in Europe and the United States, but recently it has started to be seen in cosmetics corners in Japan as well.

In fact, CBD is one of the components of the cannabis plant. When hearing the word "marijuana," many people may feel anxious about things like "Is it legal?" and "Will it have any negative effects on the body?"

This time, we will introduce the points you want to know about CBD in a Q&A format to make it easy for first-timers to understand.

CBD

Q1. What is CBD (cannabidiol)?

A1.

CBD is one of the physiologically active substances ``cannabinoids'' contained in cannabis plants and industrial hemp, and is a component that has been recognized to be useful for the mind and body of humans and animals.

Generally known as illegal drugs such as ``cannabis'' and ``marijuana'', the component that has the effect of ``feeling euphoria'' and ``getting high'' and is addictive is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is also cannabis. It is one of the ``cannabinoids'' derived from grass and industrial hemp, but it is a different ingredient from CBD.

CBD does not have any effects such as ``feeling euphoria'' or ``getting high'' or is addictive.

Q2. Is CBD legal? How is it different from illegal drugs?

A2.

The Cannabis Control Act targets cannabis plants and industrial hemp.other than stems and seedsThe leaf and flower parts of the cannabis plant, or those containing THC, are not regulated as a whole. Article 1 of the Cannabis Control Law clearly states that ``mature stems of cannabis plants and their products (excluding resin), seeds of cannabis plants and their products are excluded.''

Products imported through official channels meet Japanese standards, so there is no need to worry. The ``Marry Jane'' CBD products sold at Milobina use hemp extract derived from industrial hemp stalks and do not contain any THC.

However, in Europe and America, CBD products that contain THC are distributed, so please be careful when purchasing them overseas or importing them for personal use.

Q3. How does CBD regulate the body?

A3.

Many living things, including humans and mammals, produce physiologically active substances called endocannabinoids in their bodies. Endocannabinoids bind to cannabinoid receptors, which are abundant in nerve cells and immune cells distributed throughout the body, and send instructions to the cells to maintain the body's homeostasis. "Homeostasis" means that the internal environment of the body remains constant regardless of changes in the external environment.

This is called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), and it is an important system that controls all physiological functions such as appetite, sleep, pain, immunity, emotional control, motor function, cognition, and memory. Recent research has revealed that the ECS functions weaken due to strong external stress or aging, leading to poor physical condition and illness.

CBD, a type of plant cannabinoid, stimulates human cannabinoid receptors and performs functions similar to endocannabinoids in the body, so it is thought that taking CBD can help balance the body.

Q4.When should I use CBD products?

A4.

If you are using it as a supplement, try it for everyday physical complaints such as not being able to sleep well, feeling nervous or anxious, having stiff shoulders or muscle pain, or having difficulty getting rid of fatigue.

Q5. Does CBD have any side effects, dependence, or negative effects on the body?

A5.

There is no dependence or adverse effects on the body. There are almost no side effects, but some people may experience severe drowsiness, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or irritability. Research has also shown that consuming large amounts of CBD does not cause toxicity.

It has also been reported that some drugs may have drug interactions that may affect their therapeutic effects. If you normally take medications but would like to try CBD, we recommend checking with your doctor first.

CBD (cannabidiol) can surprisingly respond to a variety of physical problems. It may be a little difficult to explain how it works, but if you're interested, try CBD products and experience the effects for yourself.
