This is a series of posts I wrote in my email newsletter back in my mid-30s, titled "My Story of Graduating from Being a Cosmetics Gypsy," which I'm now republishing for my official blog.
What were the motivations behind the creation of Mirobina, and why did they end up with skincare products made from natural ingredients?
We will leave behind written materials to convey the background information that cannot be fully expressed on the product page alone.
All 15 episodes are being released sequentially.
I really want to be beautiful
To our regular subscribers,
For first-timers,
Hello.
This is Nonko, the shop manager of Bi-Natural (formerly Aromatic Life Magic Soap) (*This was the original name of this shop) (*^_^*)
Now then!
This is the story of how I came to open my Aromatic Life Magic Soap shop.
Last time, I talked about how I used to be a beauty consultant for a French skincare brand and how I "completely believed" in and sold a serum that cost a whopping 50,000 yen to customers.
And yet, it's cruel.
Everyone, the effect is practically "zero (T_T)"
····why?
Whyyyyy!
Did I deceive them? Yet, I question why everyday life remains unchanged.
The Director of Education and the President
You were so confident, saying, "This is amazing!"
After all, for our customers
I said, "This will definitely make it beautiful!"
And yet, they actually recommend using a 38,000 yen cream on top of a 50,000 yen serum, saying it's even more effective... (Of course, this is company policy).
But despite my concern, the customer didn't seem angry at all, and came back to buy the cream that cost 20,000 yen, just like always. And we, too, continued to sell it to her with a smile, as if nothing had happened.
Yeah?
Why aren't the customers angry?
Why are we selling it as if nothing happened?
Oh no, something's not right! ? It's starting to get really tough...
Looking back now, I realize that most cosmetics seem to have some effect, and sometimes they don't. They're all kind of like that, so neither the customers nor we beauty consultants ever think, "That's ridiculous, I'm going to complain!"
That's actually strange.
Even if it doesn't work, you think, "Oh well, I guess that's just how it is..." Then you move on to other cosmetics, and when those don't work either, you start gathering more information, and you become a cosmetics nomad...
My motivation is...
Now I understand it clearly, but back then I was still relying on information from magazines and such.Still under mind controlTherefore,
All I could think was, "Something's weird!?"
Magazines can't afford to anger their advertisers by having biased information... It's only natural that they would feature their advertiser's (a major cosmetics manufacturer's) products as the number one recommended item.
Then, one day, as if by design, I discovered I was pregnant!
Furthermore, to me who made various suggestions
My supervisor even went out of their way to warn me, saying, "It's not good for a beauty consultant to say too much."
...My motivation has plummeted ↓(゜_゜;)↓
Starting a second life!
While morning sickness was also hitting me, suddenly on the train
I felt like, "I can't take this anymore (-_-メ)!" and the very next day, without hesitation, I submitted my resignation at lightning speed.
And he was a fearless 27-year-old at the time.
It's no exaggeration to say that my second life began at that moment!
...To be continued!
