Hay fever is your body's way of telling you | The relationship between stress hormones and allergies

Hello.

No foundation, Milobina, and Manager Nonko are always welcome.

So far, we have explained the basic concepts of hay fever and how to deal with it.

This time, in our series on pollen prevention, I would like to conclude by sharing what hay fever is telling us.

Hay fever is a message

Hay fever is extremely painful, so I think most people want to find a way to alleviate the symptoms, and will spend time and money trying to suppress them with eye drops and hay fever medication.

My late father always carried goggles so he could do his favorite farm work, and he was prescribed hay fever medication, including nasal drops, from an early age.

(After discovering nettle and eyebright, she started using them.)

But here, I want you to stop and think for a moment: our bodies don't want to cause us trouble.

These overreactions are telling us that there is a problem with our mind and body.

Are there too many things in your daily life that are not pleasing to your mind and body, such as food, sleep, exercise, and relationships? Are you pushing yourself too hard?

When you think about it carefully, does anything come to mind?

People who work hard tend to have excess cortisol

My partner is Australian, and one time while we were traveling in Australia, I was working hard on my computer and his mother gave me a very obvious look of disgust.

They even say to me, "Aren't you on vacation?"

I didn't realize it at the time, but I'm a really hard worker and I always push myself to the limit to see things through.

What's scary is that for so many years I hadn't realized how incredibly hardworking I am.

What I want to say here is that people often don't understand themselves well and believe that they are "always lazy" or "can't do things properly."

This is especially true among serious Japanese people, and the Showa generation is no exception.

In other words, you are actually a very hard worker, and so I am worried that you may be unknowingly pushing yourself too hard both physically and mentally, weakening yourself.

If you live like this every day, no matter how much you pay attention to your diet or how hard you exercise, you will remain tense, which will result in excessive secretion of the stress hormone cortisol.

This leads to an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system and immune system, making people prone to suffering from various vague symptoms, including allergies such as hay fever.

In a sense, "illness comes from the mind." In other words, illness is often caused by our own mental habits.

Would you like to take a leisurely walk by yourself?

Compared to back then, I still have a mountain of work to do and I'm working hard, but I'm not pushing myself as hard as I used to.

At the same time, I go to a cafe and spend a long time there when I have a little free time, or if I feel like it, I go for a walk even during work, or play with my cat.

I try to reduce the amount of things I "have to do" and increase the amount of things I "want to do." Even with the video, I suddenly felt like walking on the way back from a cafe I went to on a Sunday morning, and suddenly felt like filming, so I filmed it wearing glasses, no makeup, and wearing my everyday clothes.

I was taking pictures in the middle of a farm road when an old man passed by on a tractor.

People would ask me, "Did you get a good shot?" and I felt happy and excited. I think the cortisol in my body probably dropped significantly at that moment (laughs).

So, this is a message from yourself to look at yourself kindly, no matter what physical discomfort you are experiencing.

I hope you don't ignore it, but instead treat yourself kindly and pamper yourself a little at a time so you can enjoy each day.
