Endocannabinoids bind to cannabinoid receptors, which are abundant in nerve cells and immune cells distributed throughout the body, and send instructions to the cells to maintain the body's homeostasis. "Homeostasis" means that the internal environment of the body remains constant regardless of changes in the external environment.<\/p>
